Continuing
the trend of fiercely political and emotional lyrics blended with
forceful melodies perfected in Elect the Dead, Imperfect Harmonies
feels like the former album's little brother. The songs have a bit
more of a pop feel rather than the weird eclecticism of the first
album, which is definitely not a bad thing. The best way I can
describe it is if you took 'Lie Lie Lie' and extrapolated it into a
full album. The blend of eastern instruments (particularly the sitar)
and computer generated sounds works well, but in the back of my mind
I think I will always hold it up the lofty standards of Elect the
Dead, which I know is unfair, because this album is fantastic in its
own right.
